Julie Starr Hook resides in Salem, Oregon, with her husband, and family. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Rhetoric Speech and Communications from the University of Oregon in 1989.
For six years, she worked as a sales representative for a food broker, where she learned space management techniques in the grocery industry. In 1986, Julie decided to become a stay-at-home mom and began exploring her interest in organizing homes. In 2003, she formed Five Starr Organizing and Design, and began writing a weekly column on organizing for a northwest newspaper.
Julie enjoys speaking to various groups about organizing, time management, productivity and simplifying life. She is a member of the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO). She has been a regular guest on Portland, Oregon’s morning show AMNW. She has written over 250 columns on organizing. She has blogged for companies like Bed, Bath and Beyond, Office Candy and Sam’s Club. Julie published her book, “From Frazzled to Freedom” in June of 2012. Julie participated on the “Hoarders” TV show in July of 2015. “Hoarders” is a Prime Time Emmy Nominated series on A & E.

I have finished your book, Frazzled to Freedom! I have begun “the purge”! I appreciate your “gentleness” and grace throughout the book! I am one that cannot be rushed! I love the fact that you address the emotional and psychological issues! I have had my time on the “couch”!
